The amount and quality of sleep you’re not getting may be to blame for stalled weight loss, according to Canadian researchers. Fewer Americans are getting the recommended seven to nine hours of sleep than previous generations. The lack of restful sleep causes an increase in the release of appetite-stimulating hormones. You may be reaching for quick sugary food to help keep you awake.
Research is also looking at the use of technology before bed — ie your kindles, ipads, iphone, etc. The artificial light created may disrupt normal sleep patterns.
